About BGFA
Directions Transit: Via subway: Pershing Square Station, exit the 5th Street portal, walk east 3 blocks to Main Street (against the one-way traffic), gallery is on the right side of the street just before Main. Many Rapid Buses also stop within a block or two of the gallery.
Driving: 110 Freeway-exit 6th Street from the northbound or southbound lanes, go east 8 blocks on 6th Street to Main, left on Main to 5th, left on 5th, the gallery is immediately on your left.
Parking is available on the streets adjacent to the gallery, and at numerous parking lots and garages in the neighborhood, which charge a $5 or $6 flat rate to park all day. ALWAYS read the signs when parking on the street, or park in a lot if you are unsure.
Handicapped access is available at all times.
How to Stay Informed Join the e-mail announcement list. The mailing list is used to announce gallery events, to share opportunities for artists, and to alert the public to special offers of interest to collectors.
Artwork Submission Policy BGFA is not reviewing artist's portfolios at this time. Unsolicited packages and emails will not be answered or returned.
Project Windows BGFA's Project Windows feature light-based installation artwork. Artists are invited to install windows for periods of up to one year in the windows. Download the Project Windows application for more information.
Downtown Art Walk Bert Green founded the Downtown Art Walk in 2004 and handed over the management of the event to others in 2009. BGFA participates in the daytime portion of the Downtown Art Walk which is held on the Second Thursday of every month, from 12-6 pm.
About the Gallery BGFA exhibits contemporary artists from California and beyond, and works to further artistic dialogue and aesthetic development in Los Angeles. Bert Green, Gallery Director, graduated from New York University, and was the executive director of the New York based non-profit arts organization Circumference from 1982 through 1989. From 1992 to 1996, Mr. Green was a co-curator for the San Francisco based non-profit arts organization ArtReach. In the interim and throughout his career, he has organized many independent exhibitions prior to relocating to Los Angeles to open the Circle Elephant Art gallery in 1999, and BGFA in 2004.
